There is an appealing background to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall betting is not allowed. Eight casinos are established in a relatively tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime spot, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest wagering locations in Asia. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 5:00 p.m., and despite the fact visas are allegedly necessary to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is real of many border crossings.
The initial Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and sixty six of the normal table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel complex that highlights many luxuries in addition to the gambling den, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
